The Weblog Review

When first looking at this blog, the reader is struck with the simplicity of the author’s style of writing. Not only is the blog simple in the deliverance of some complex concepts, so is the style of writing which is flowing and straight to the point. Reading one post may not be enough for the reader to understand what sorts of topics are dealt with in this blog. However, as one goes through the other entries the “musings” are quite clear. Putting your point across to the multitude of readers who come from different backgrounds, as most bloggers are, is not a moot point and the author puts her point quite easily across in her posts.

“Creative Living” as the blog title says, gives you a good idea on what this blog is all about. On reading through the posts one would find instances and ideas that give thought for improving one’s outlook of life and personal notions. All these ideas are interlaced with thought-provoking instances which bring a smile to one’s face as well as food for thought. This blog is good reading for anyone interested in knowing another point of view and take on common personal and individual self exploration thoughts.

The design is simple and pleasant. There aren’t any bright colors that could distract the eye from the context of the blog to the design itself. The links on the right side of the blog need to be more organized as they seem a little haywire without proper arrangement.

All in all it is a good site for people who love to enjoy reading about self exploration and an occasional poem. The blog is quite interactive and can entrap the reader.

Creative Living was a title which had instant appeal, and led me to hope that I would be encountering a weblog of a creative individual; either a writer or an artist perhaps. I was not to be disappointed on this score because on finding the about me page I was greeted with the following “I’m a writer and therapist living in Reading, Berkshire happily with my partner and cats”. On that note I ventured into the archives.

I was not really surprised to discover that the author of Creative Living writes very well. Many of her entries are personal in origin; random musings and thoughts on writing specifically. I found myself more and more drawn into her entries the further I read. I was also pleased to find a link to her website Fiona Robyn, which displays examples of poetry and extracts from her novels. I think one other aspect of her writing that I found interesting was the mode of her entries; seemingly written to promote thought. I really liked that.

The design on the whole was however a little generic for my tastes, a little too much like your average blogger template. But it was easy to read, navigate and didn’t detract from the content. It did nothing to really catch your eye either, and I do feel a nicely designed template which is eye catching without being over the top would really assist this author in obtaining the readership I believe she deserves.

All in all I really enjoyed the time I spent at Creative Living. I found it beautifully written, and thought provoking. It left me wanting to know more about the author, and read her works. I would recommend, where possible, design alternations and incorporation of her weblog into her main writing site. A weblog with real potential, and a must for any blogroll.

Diary of a Stay At Home Mum, is a mommy blog from the UK, North Yorkshire to be exact.



Kerry is the mother of four children and blogs about her daily life, which obviously includes the raising of her kids and their lives too. Recent postings tell of how her partner Andy injured his knee and is home for two weeks recovering. Another post blogged about “Shopping with 4 kids – Nightmare or Insanity?” which was amusing and extremely detailed for a blog post.



As of late, Kerry’s posts have been infrequent, only two written in the month of February thus far, but she explains in her recent post that she is “busy busy busy!”



Powered by Blogger, the design is simple and easy to use, but the background is lavender pink and not the ordinary blogger templates of black or beige. There are lots of blog links and webrings in the right hand column, but there aren’t any flashy additional features besides a goggle search bar, blogchalk and clock.



Parent bloggers who understand the wonder, responsibility, dedication and exasperation of raising children should find this blog very enjoyable. The situations Kerry writes about are universal, even as a single woman I can only imagine how difficult shopping with 4 kids could be, and thanks to her detailed account, I don’t have to imagine it. It would be nice to see Kerry blog more frequently, but obviously finding some free blogging time is rare for a busy mom.Diary of a Stay At Home Mum

Simple white template. You can’t beat simplicity, especially when the text needs to stand out more than the template. First sighting of the blog quite quickly lets you know that it is a book reviewing blog. What you expect is book reviews and that is what you get.

I found that the side panel with the drop down menu of alphabeticalised author/book reviews was greatly helpful! Debra also has a similiar drop down menu for interviews with authors and book clubs. I think it makes the site a lot easier to navigate and makes it much easier to find something specific if you were looking for a particular author or book.

The only problem I seemed to have was when I tried to access the link to Debra’s own book, from her about the blogger link it kept coming up with an error message.

If you are a book worm and quite like reading about other’s opinions about certain books, then this site is definately worth checking out.book-blog reviews

The title of the blog, “Book-blog Review”, was very straightforward and concise. Which I appreciate since I now do not have any doubt that what I will find here will most likely be review about books.

And I was not wrong.

I saw current books being review, criticized and scored according to the whims of the author.

I kinda like the idea though. I mean, not only do I get to see what’s new and what’s hot, I get to read a free critique.

Design-wise, the blog is simple. But that gives it the look of elegance. And maybe even a little professionalism.
