The Weblog Review

I don’t know if the site is only a week old or if his archives aren’t working. Either way, I was only able to read a weeks worth of posts. Maybe it is a good thing, maybe its a bad. I will let you decide.



Of the week that I read, I wanted to read more. It was just one of those, I need more, give me more. I was disappointed when I found only a week in the archives. Its not that often that I actually want to read more than a weeks worth of archives.



If it is only in its first week, then go read it now. I find it really cool when I find a site that has just started out and I can read it from day one or week one. It is kind of like a growing experience. Even if it is two years old, it has the freshness of being new. So this will still be a cool site.

Here is a big computer geek. I can say that because, well he says it. Multiple times through out his posts. He even has a post with his name in it five times just so that hopefully a search engine will pick up on it and then if he searches for Allan, his site will show up.



The weblog entries were amusing and informative to me. I enjoyed them because I always want to learn new things. Now because of him, I must go learn all there is to know about Unix. Thanks Allan. Not like I didn’t have enough to learn already.



The design is very simple. I wish there was a vertical line between the links and the main part, but that is just a preference. Color scheme is very simple just like the design, which I enjoy.



Anyone who would call them self a small computer geek needs to check out this site. He has a lot of cool tools that you can play around with. Even if you aren’t a computer geek, go play with the site, as it is fun.

allan

This site is just like most weblogs. Info into the person’s life, links here and there. The site is called in white now and uses only black and white and gray. No coloration.



I like the design of the site. It is elegant and easy to view. The side bar with her comments is original. She likes to talk about herself in the third person.



She enacted a comment system, but unfortunately I couldn’t understand the posts as they were in a different language.



One nice feature is the ability to get notified when the site gets updated. Just fill out a little form and then you get notified. She does this, as she doesn’t know how often her site will be updated now that she has moved.

Everyone knows that there are weblogs out there of just links to other stuff. Well most weblogs are that way, but some are strictly that. This site is about 90% links and 10% personal stuff. Of course there is the about section to make it a little bit more personal.



The one thing I really liked about this site was what he was actually posting links too. He goes out and finds some of the weirdest articles and puts his spin on them. He probably has every online news press company linked in some way shape or form. It is just amazing the articles that he finds.



He updates multiple times a day with many different links and what not. If you are looking for some weird and strange news, here is the site for you.

Firblog

The first that I noticed about this site was the design. Awesome design. Colors that are not normally used, well I have never seen them used before, are incorporated into the site. Also the double column on the right side was really cool.



I didn’t like the little scrolling thing at the bottom that said take your vitamins. It was as if Hulk Hogan was running the site. Also, it covered up the url to each of the links. Blind clicking (not knowing the site you are going to) is a no-no.



I start reading the short posts. Generally there are multiple posts each day, with some gaps here and there between days. Most of posts contain links with his take on them. Some of his comments were very funny.



The weblog itself is an above average weblog. Each post has a reason behind it – for you to go read it. There are no other explanations other than that so go read it.
