The Weblog Review

This webmaster knows what hes doing, the layout is pretty nice, and his logs are enjoying to read. What i liked was how, in his logs, he keeps everything to the point and doesn’t blab on and on. This makes it an easy read but one draw back is that you cant really feel what he’s thinking. There is a very thin line between too much and too little content. I think he knows what he wants to say but he has difficulty in conveying that information to you and me. He also doesnt have that many links on his site, his logs are about it. I know its all about the logs but most people won’t just go to a site to read how hes gotted his paycheck and then hes gonna get stoned off his you know what. Finally, even though the sit has a great layout I wish he would have more ‘eye candy.’ By that i meen things to keep the reader looking at the screen. Brown on brown is kind of boring and it doesnt really draw your eye to the screen. Dont get me wrong it is a great site but it needs a bit of work. I give it a 3.5

Why is it that some sites you just like because? This is one of those for me. I have no clue why I like it so much (No its not the blonds at the top of the page), I just enjoyed it. It didn’t take me long to go through all of his posts, which I ended up doing. I just got caught up. Someone please tell me what it is about this site that kept me reading? Here is the new site of the week for the third week of July. Every single post is entertaining. No wonder this guy gets around 300 page views a day! That is insane for a weblog. Yes I cheated and checked his stats.



The design of the site is smooth. Very good design and very pleasing to the eye. Each post has its own nice box around it to make it stick out. Just a really good design.



And its not just what he post, but how he writes each one. They are all very entertaining. Nothing boring like today I cooked an egg. And even if he does have a post like that he intersects it with some thought.

First impression… This site is crammed full of stuff. Reaction after realizing how it the layout works… This site has too much going on.



Design:

I did not like this design one bit. I am sorry, but even though I like the right hand side thing, there was just too much. Three column layout that fit nicely into less than half of my screen. There is a problem. First column took me forever to figure out, then I realized it was people’s comments. The comment form is in the center column with a little bio above it. Third column is the weblog itself. Hard to read as it was pushed so far to the right. Also with the other two columns of info, it was difficult even with the vertical line.



Content:

Good content. Take a 16 year old kid who enjoys computers and video games. Give him a weblog. What do you get? A weblog about a 16 year old. I miss those days. Free spirited and not having to worry about much of anything. I like the comment he makes

I’m working eight out of nine days (since Wednesday). That’s going to kill me, it’s already started.

Let the flood of comments begin. 8 out of 9 days would be nice for me. Ahh the life.



Overall:

The content is really good, but the design just takes away from it too much for me to really like this one. If there is a new design where it is easier to read the main part of the site, then I will probably really enjoy it. But until then, I just can’t give it a good score.exuda

I really enjoyed this guys entries. Maybe it was cause I could relate to him since he is from around the same area as I am and I know what he is going through. I don’t know. His posts are straight diary type posts for the most part. No so and so said this over at their site, this is pure voyeurism. Granted he doesn’t tell us much, but with each post you figure out more and more about him. He writes it as though he wants it a secret, but doesn’t care if people read it. Almost as if he wrote it in a real journal, babying it, hiding it, and then one day had it published and handed out for free at borders. Really interesting.Nate’s Journal
