Doing Time intially sounded like a prison blog, an insider view, from a prisoner’s perspective. What you actually got was another basic template, plain black background, which I think works really well for site, especially since the writing is what draws you in. There isn’t much in the way of “about me”, but the links all work and some are quite funny.

The Trashman writes very well. His accounts, whether they be true or not, are very entertaining for the reader and wants to make you read more. For a blog that is fairly new (started July 2004) I believe this is a rare find. Doing Time stands out because it’s got the twist that many other blogs are lacking. It’s entertainment. Purely.

The purpose of the blog I believe is for the author to tell his humorous events in written form. He does it well. His latest entry Happy Valentines Day definitely puts a smile on your face, it will even elicit a laugh or two. His links to various other pages work, the one to Save Toby had me laughing very hard indeed.

I believe that the Trashman enjoys his blog as much as the reader’s like reading it. I’ve given it a 5 because of the uniqueness of the blog in it’s content. There are not many blogs that are both humorous as well as well written, thought out and stand out.

I really like the fact that Ed talks about the revenue based mainstream media outlets in the first portion of the main page. I also enjoyed the simple layout of this site.

The blog itself is very interesting and I like the fact that Ed is very opinionated, even though I don’t particularly agree with most of his ideas and beliefs. Ed makes no bones about how he feels and that’s exactly how people should be in my opinion.

The blog is very well written and Ed seems to be a well educated person who keeps up with current events.

The layout is simple and to the point without lots of bells and whistles so, there’s more reason to focus on the content rather than the extra stuff.

I would give this blog a big thumbs up and recommend it as a regular read to anyone. That is except for the Republican readers out there unless you can read it with an open mind.

Based on another blogger template, the initial impression I got was that this is a blog based on the author’s political & every day views, what gave that away was the blurb he had under his header which states:

“A collection of real-world libertarian, individualist and laissez-faire rants on policy, culture and other current events by an average, everyday lawyer & investment banker and part-time pop scholar.”

A stitch in Haste has one author. A KipEsquire. The blog is mainly about his views and opinions. Events and occurances that grab his attention or are an interest to him. I do like that he had his blog roll seperated into different sections. Makes for easy finding.

What I expected from this blog is exactly what I got. One person’s views on American politial and cultural issues. My not being an American I guess doesn’t help, especially since I don’t have any idea what he is talking about, I have a hard time following Australian politics!

I’d have to say there are more political postings than anything else, the links and quotes used are used well by the author. He puts forward his argument in a structured form and above all, his argument makes sense! The author uses links that are unique, linking back to blogs that he reads, as well as some that are common, ie. Washington Post.

All in all, I think that this blog doesn’t really do anything for me. But that could be because I’m not American and I’m not political. If you, on the other hand, are political, check it out, KipEsquire has some interesting opinions.A Stitch in Haste

I wasn’t sure what the word Bravus meant so I tried to look it up. Unfortunately no results for it, so I was left clueless as to what to expect in this blog.

The page loads up to a very simple design. Grey background, black text, two columns, and a big header in a dark red is all there is. No images, no fancy scripts, just the blog and the normal second column info. One thing I noticed is that there is a broken image right above the twr button, which got me thinking about my image. The author has hot linked my image, rather than download it, and upload it to his server. This is something that is generally frowned upon as it isn’t cool to steal someone else’s bandwidth. If I wanted, I could replace the image with a picture of a clown, or a monkey, or something worse and he would be non-the-wiser.

While reading the blog I have discovered that the author is a teacher in some sort of science – I am about 99% positive it is physics, but I could be wrong. There are quiet a few of these science posts as well as teaching and daily life. The blog itself doesn’t have much that doesn’t read as a “that’s already been done in a blog”.

Overall I felt this was just your average blog. You may like it, you may not. There is nothing preventing me from saying go visit this site, and there is nothing preventing me from saying don’t. This is one of those sites where you are either going to connect and enjoy it, or if you are like me and have read countless blogs, find it rather similar to a lot of other blogs out there.Bravus

I thought of the insurance company when I read the title “Progressive Ink!” That didn’t really make much sense especially since I kinda figured that this was not a marketing blog by Progressive. But enough of that.

I liked the layout a lot. It was simple and the fact that the different shades of gray was the background and everything looked so nice in its simplicity scored points from me.

The entries come through when the subtitle promised “Interactive Notes Re: God, Life, Philosophy, Science, Religion and Politics. All I can say is that most of them are rants about what the author thought. Like some rants, the entries here were funny and witty and sometimes even to the point of being lighthearted.

Overall, I suggest that everyone stop by at least once and read through the author’s wit.Progressive Ink!
