Why do I get all the hard ones?
Superb site design and navigation…spare and clean, just like I like ’em.
The weblog has fits and starts from October 20 of 2000 to the present, but oh what fits and starts…a few postings in October, a few in December through March and May, and then he really takes off!
The poems are masterful, raw, and filled with emotion. I especially liked the newest from October 20, 2001 called “Nine Inches of Emo”. Here’s a quote from that one:
“my parents call me moody
my shrink calls me depressed
they don’t know the emo heart
that beats within my chest”
Evocative, huh?!!
I’m still trying to figure out the grocery list.

Starjewel is yet another fantastic personal weblog that boasts both oodles of content and great page design. Categorically, Starjewel may be considered a “chick blog” despite its gender-neutral outward appearance. Don’t let that be a determent; there is much to enjoy at Starjewel.
The author, self-described as a “geek chick from Pittsburgh”, has put much thought into Starjewel’s simple yet pleasing layout; this is especially apparent when comparing the blog in MSIE 5.5 and NS 6.1, as the blog views identically in both browsers. The links included at Starjewel are varied and interesting, and Starjewel itself makes a great launching pad for the further exploration of choice personal weblogs.
Layout and links aside, the Star in this jewel of a blog is the author’s writing. Insightful, humorous, well-composed entries seem to be a hallmark of this literate blogger; and, the entries are an absolute pleasure to peruse. The links provided within entries are not haphazard and they lead to content which nicely compliments the author’s own writings. The seamless blend of candid writing, excellent composition, proper grammar, and links lend a high quality air to Starjewel. This is a weblog not to be missed.

Thank God, someone finally did something ingenious with a weblog. Darryl8m is one of the better excuses for a weblog i’ve seen in a long while.
What’s different about Darryl8m is that it isn’t a traditional blog. It’s a log of conversations he has with friends, acquaintances, and the like. He also includes links to other sites that have to do with random words in sentences, the most intersting of which links the word “penis” to a site about being a drag king. Pictures about each topic are included above the posts. They aren’t necessarily funny posts, or even grammatically correct (since the bulk of it is from internet conversations), but they’re uncensored (i’m assuming) and interesting. Just another piece of evidence that gay men are, on the whole, more interesting than their straight counterparts.
The design is fairly drab, but not to a fault. It’s hard to go wrong with black on white, but it could use some, uh, pizazz. The way the posts are formatted is hard to read at times, and could definitley be improved upon. But overall, it looks good.
I’d seriously recommend that you check out Darryl8m, it’s a groovy little slice of the internet.darryl8m

How could I not like a blog by a fellow Bjork fan?
My first impression of the site was good; there is lots of color, in the text and in the design. It feels contemporary and alive. My only major complaint comes in that I was unable to view the “about†section of Zootgirl, to find out something about her. But, I got past that, and onto the content.
The writing style is easy enough to read, although the quoting was a bit much for my personal taste. The accounts of her weekends were interesting enough, and short enough as to not be boring, yet long enough to paint a complete picture. Her telling of the IKEA furniture arrival and assembly was well written, and amusing. I think many of us can recall the days of our own bouts with “Assembly Required†furniture to be able to relate.
There’s nothing too personal revealed here that I saw, but it’s enough of a glimpse to be interesting, and to keep the masses coming back to find out what’s happening next.
Good design, good content, and a solid base. For adults, although I saw nothing that would make this site off-limits to younger adults.

My first impression of this site was “wow!†I love blue and black, and the layout is really visually appealing. Crisp graphics, easy to read, all make the site give off a great first impression.
Unfortunately, this isn’t much of a blog. I was expecting something a bit more based on the great layout and design, but it turned out to be basically a link and news site, which in and of itself isn’t a bad thing. It’s just not a blog.
The author writes well, however, and the links he finds to interesting news articles had me going to them, checking them out, and then returning for more. Reminded me of a sort-of one man mini fark.com.
I think the author would do a great blog if he decided to do one; he’s got the design part down pat, and his writing style is engaging. He has the “about†page I go on about, although it’s a bit light on the information that would let us know just that much more about him.
I’d love to rate the site higher, but this is the weblog review, not the web site design review. If there were more posts (daily, perhaps) and containing a bit of original content, we’d have a winner here.
